Double Sawari, Ban on Pillion riding
KARACHI: The government of Sindh has issued a notification here on Thursday for lifting the ban on pillion riding for five days.
The ban would be lifted at midnight of Thursday to provide a considerable breather to the irate masses for Eid.
The provincial home minister, Zulfiqar Mirza had announced a few days ago that pillion riding ban would be lifted on the advent of the holy day of 27th Ramadan, for five days. The notification issued here Thursday has finally lifted the ban as announced by the minister.
Initially the ban on pillion riding was imposed for a month in the aftermath of the bloody ethnic riots that erupted in 2008 but the ban has been repeatedly extended since then.
Meanwhile the Karachi police has been given strong directives to combat the menace of street crimes with the help of enhanced patrolling and snap checking
